Neptune, NJ – Hackensack Meridian Cancer Care has expanded its thoracic surgery resources and expertise with the addition of Jennifer L. Sullivan, M.D., FACS. Board certified in thoracic surgery and specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgeries, Dr. Sullivan joins the thoracic and esophageal surgery team that supports the greater Monmouth and Ocean county region.
Dr. Sullivan joins colleagues Thomas Bauer II, M.D., interim medical director of Hackensack Meridian Cancer Care, chief of thoracic surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and medical director of thoracic oncology, and Ziad Hanhan, M.D., director of thoracic surgery for Bayshore Medical Center and Riverview Medical Center. With over 40 years of collective experience, the thoracic and esophageal surgery team provides treatment for a wide range of malignant and non-malignant conditions affecting the lung, esophagus, thymus, mediastinum, chest wall, and diaphragm. The team is committed to providing a seamless approach to coordinated care, working closely with the nurse navigators, primary care physicians and all the other members of the care team (radiation oncology, medical oncology, pulmonology, and others.)

Dr. Sullivan is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She completed an internship and residency in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA and continued her residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at University of California-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. Dr. Sullivan went on to further enhance her skills and completed a fellowship focused on esophageal surgery at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA .
With areas of expertise in minimally invasive esophagectomy, minimally invasive surgery for lung cancer, robotic surgery, incisionless surgery, endoluminal interventions, endobronchial ultrasound (ebus), and navigational bronchoscopy, Dr. Sullivan works closely with the teams at Ocean Medical Center in Brick and Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin to provide patients and families with exceptional care.
