The James J. Nobel Society

In 1952, a group of community leaders, led by James J. Nobel, began a campaign to establish a community hospital to serve the healthcare needs of the area. The group united residents and businesses in support of their efforts to establish a community hospital for the residents of Southern Ocean County. In 1972, after 20 years, their tireless fundraising efforts culminated in the opening of Southern Ocean Medical Center.

In acknowledgement of the grassroots philanthropic effort he launched, The James J. Nobel Society was created to recognize the generosity of today’s like-minded individuals, who are reinvesting in the continued availability of affordable, quality healthcare, here, in our community.

Members of The Nobel Society are recognized with a listing in the Foundation’s newsletter and the Hospital’s lobby, and are invited to an annual reception in their honor. These “Friends” of Southern Ocean Medical Center are the true “Founders.” Won’t you join them?
