Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation’s Inaugural 'Signature Social' a Perfect Evening

Manahawkin, NJ - Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation hosted the hospital’s first Signature Social fundraising event on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Bonnet Island Estate on Long Beach Island and raised over $90,000.

The exclusive cocktail reception provided the event’s 175 guests with the opportunity to socialize with members of the medical center’s medical staff and chat with hospital executives about the exciting plans taking place at Southern Ocean Medical Center and Meridian Health.

Throughout the evening, hospital leadership provided an overview of planned services that will enhance the patient experience at Southern Ocean Medical Center, including a multi-million dollar transformation of cancer services. All proceeds from the event will support these programs and services.

“Our first Signature Social was a very special one,” explains president of Southern Ocean Medical Center, Joseph P. Coyle. “Major transformations are taking place at our community hospital, first with the recent Emergency Department expansion, the addition of a number of talented new physicians and now with growth in cancer care. The evening was an extraordinary display of community support, reminding us how fortunate we are to be surrounded by such generous and committed individuals.”

One of the event’s highlights was a personal story shared by Rick Lane, former Chairman of the Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation Board. Rick’s account of his life-saving experience with the hospital made the evening a particularly meaningful event.

“They were concerned if I was going to make it,” Rick shared. “John Lloyd, president and CEO of Meridian Health, always talked about the concept of a team and as a patient, it’s amazing. Everyone was focused. Meridian’s vision of teamwork is there and it’s real, they shine with pride.”

The cocktail reception was co-chaired by Peggy Feudi and Deborah Mathis and sponsored by generous donors, along with Southern Ocean Medical Center Medical Staff and Southern Ocean Center Genesis Healthcare.
