Meridian Health Opens New Community Resource Center at Freehold Raceway Mall

Partnership with The Arc of Monmouth and United Way of Monmouth County offers unique way for community to get tuned in to their health

Neptune, NJ - Meridian Health in partnership with The Arc of Monmouth and the United Way of Monmouth County have opened the Meridian Community Resource Center at Freehold Raceway Mall.  This unique and convenient Resource Center will offer a wide array of services and resources to enhance the health and well-being of our community.

“This partnership is the first of its kind,” says John K. Lloyd, FACHE, president of Meridian Health. “By working with The Arc of Monmouth and United Way of Monmouth County in this exciting new venture, we are creating a single location where residents can find resources to support their physical, emotional, and financial wellness. Through our shared vision we have created a robust resource that will fit into the busy lives of local residents.”

There are many facets to wellness.  Stress brought on by emotional, financial, and other personal situations can all have an impact on someone’s physical health and well-being. Each partner organization brings the needed expertise to address financial, emotional and physical wellness in a convenient one-stop-shop setting at Meridian Community Resource Center.

The new Center is staffed by experts from all three organizations, five days a week, from Monday through Friday as well as selected evenings and weekends. Meridian has placed a full-time nurse educator at the site that will provide preventive health screenings. The center will also offer support groups, babysitting training, smoking cessation classes, CPR instruction, physician-led health education seminars information to understand Medicare and the health insurance marketplace, job fairs, employment services for persons with disabilities, a respite program for caregivers, financial stability education and assistance, access to volunteer opportunities within the community, and more.

In addition, we received support in the form of a generous gift from the late Dr. William Matthews’s estate to help offset operational costs to run the center. Dr. Matthews was the director of the ear nose and throat department at Riverview Medical Center for more than three decades and through his legacy, continues to better the health of the community.

According to Timothy Hearne, president and CEO, United Way of Monmouth County, “The Meridian Community Resource Center is a unique collaboration within the Freehold Raceway Mall that allows three like-minded organizations to work together in improving the mind, body and spirit of local community members.”
