Tiny, Insertable Cardiac Monitor Helps Detect Irregular Heartbeats

Manahawkin, NJ - Southern Ocean Medical Center now offers the Reveal LINQ Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) to help detect irregular heartbeats. This irregularity can be related to a variety of conditions, including unexplained fainting, heart palpitations, atrial fibrillation, and unexplained stroke. Because these irregular heartbeats may only occur every now and then, the source of these conditions can be difficult to detect. Long-term heart monitoring can provide physicians with information to make a diagnosis and determine the best course of treatment.
The Reveal LINQ ICM requires a minimally invasive insertion procedure. Benefits of the Reveal LINQ ICM are its small size (the smallest available), it automatically detects and records abnormal heart rhythms for up to three years, and it is safe for use in an MRI setting. The monitor is placed just under the skin of the chest in a simple outpatient procedure, and is not visible in most patients.
Patients then have a small monitor at home, which can also be easily transported during travel. The monitor sends information from the ICM device to a physician automatically over a secure internet server. To learn more about the LINQ monitor and if it may benefit you or a loved one, contact one of the cardiologists at Southern Ocean Medical Center by calling 1-800-DOCTORS.
