Lights of Life to Shine at Southern Ocean Medical Center on December 12, 2013

Manahawkin, NJ - During a poignant ceremony steeped in tradition, the community is invited to gather on Thursday, December 12, 2013 to share in the Lights of Life event at Southern Ocean Medical Center.

The 20th annual Lights of Life tree lighting program will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Reynolds Arboretum, located on Southern Ocean Medical Center’s main campus on Route 72 West in Manahawkin. Residents are invited to purchase a light, star, bell, dove, or angel to be placed on the tree in honor or in memory of family and friends. In addition, a commemorative journal will list the names of all of those who will be honored or remembered.

The Lights of Life ceremony is sponsored by Exelon Nuclear/Oyster Creek, and Mrs. Joan Hart, who has served as Chair of the Lights of Life committee since its inception. Co-Chairs of the event are Angela Ominski and Matthew Schwing.

A number of community organizations will provide entertainment and join in the tree decorating. Their support truly makes this an event not just for the Medical Center, but for the entire community.  Participating organizations include: American Cancer Society; Cadette Troop #373; Congregation Sha’arey Ha-Yam; Habitat for Humanity; Harvey Cedars Bible Conference; Jewish Community Center of Long Beach Island Religious School Class ; Lighthouse Christian Academy; LBI Arts and Science Foundation; Rotary Club of Long Beach Island; and St. Francis Community Center.

Adding to the fun will be a visit from Santa Claus. Bring your camera for pictures of Santa with the kids!  Refreshments will be provided. Lights of Life is free, and open to the public.
