42nd Annual Chrysanthemum Ball Raises $80,000 for Southern Ocean Medical Center

Manahawkin, NJ - $80,000 was raised at Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation’s 42nd Annual Chrysanthemum Ball, which honored three local residents earlier this month. The event is the largest annual fundraiser for the foundation, with proceeds used to support the ongoing health and wellness services offered by Southern Ocean Medical Center.
Honorees at the event included Joseph Lattanzi, M.D. of Haven Beach, Angela Ominski of Manahawkin, and Janis Franco of Barnegat.  Committee chairs Deborah Dolan and Deborah Mathis acknowledge the support of community business owners and individual community members for the success of the event.
“Despite the difficult rebuilding year on Long Beach Island and all of Southern Ocean’s mainland communities, our community really stepped up and contributed to a very successful event,” says Dolan.  “We appreciate the sponsorships, journal ads, and the many generous and creative gifts for the community gift auction. We are also very thankful to Southern Ocean Center Genesis Healthcare for being our Grand Sponsor of the evening too.”
The evening honored three outstanding leaders in the community and reminded guests of how important it is to work for, and within, our communities. The Robert S. Irvin, M.D. Award for Medical Service was presented to Joseph Lattanzi, M.D.; the James J. Mancini Award for Community Service was presented to Angela Ominski; and the Zena Josephson Award for Volunteer Service was presented to Janis Franco.
Mathis adds, “We appreciate all of the dedication and hard work by the Chrysanthemum Ball’s committee of volunteers. Their collaboration made it an honor to serve as this year’s co-chair of the ball and I look forward to keeping this great tradition alive and strong.”
