Southern Ocean Surgeon Honored

Manahawkin, NJ - Caeser DelaCruz, M.D. was one of 18 physicians statewide to be honored with the 2011 APPLE award from the New Jersey State Nurses Association’s Institute for Nursing at a special award dinner last December.  APPLE stands for Award, Acknowledging Physicians Partners: a Liaison for Excellence. The purpose of the award is to recognize physicians who are supportive of nurses and patient advocacy that is the foundation of nursing.  Funds raised from the event support education scholarships and research grants for nursing students and nursing scholars in New Jersey.

“We nominated Dr. DelaCruz because he is dedicated to high quality care, personalized patient and family communication, continuous education of nursing staff, and overall an ‘all around’ exemplary nursing colleague,” says Richard Ridge, RN, PhD vice president of nursing.  In addition to Southern Ocean nurses, Dr. DelaCruz’s wife and son attended the award dinner to celebrate this honor.
